REDUCED WASTE

Taking care of our planet starts with reducing the amount of waste we produce. While we’re thinking big, we’re starting locally in our goal to become a zero-waste-to-landfill operation in the years ahead.

Creating compost

To help create compost and other gardening materials for use in our community, Pompeian is proud to partner with Veteran Compost, a local Baltimore company that employs veterans and their family members and specializes in turning food scraps into high-quality compost on a weekly basis. In 2020 alone, we generated more than 111 tons of compost and we look forward to building on this in the years to come.

Reducing our carbon footprint

Through partnership with UCBZeroWaste, Pompeian is actively working on recycling as much waste as possible from our US facilities and is currently recycling more than 75% of our waste nationally. Our current plastic and oil waste numbers are particularly low in both facilities as we look to utilize all resources to their maximum capacity. We’re also collaborating with our partners to reduce our carbon footprint and waste to landfill totals each and every year.
