The Olive Branch

THE OLIVE BRANCH PROJECT

Established in 2015, The Olive Branch Project empowers Baltimore’s youth, offering local schools and children’s organizations the opportunity to visit Pompeian’s headquarters, where they are immersed in a creative exploration into the world of olive oil. From healthy and educational activities to a full tour of the bottling facility and lab, plus an interactive olive oil tasting, the program provides kids with the age-appropriate information on healthy eating they’ll need to grow and develop through their formative years and beyond. Following the tour, children receive a healthy meal and their own bottle of olive oil to take home. Contact us to schedule a visit for your organization!

Over the years, The Olive Branch Project has expanded to further our mission of helping others Eat and Live Well. Through The Olive Branch Project, Pompeian focuses on impacting our community, both internally and externally. We host annual back-to-school and winter coat drives, holiday gift giving in the local community, Thanksgiving meal sponsorships and more! Externally, we partner closely with non-profit organizations to support their efforts to help our communities thrive.

TWO-TIME PROGRESSIVE GROCER IMPACT AWARD WINNER
FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE AND LOCAL IMPACT

Pompeian has been named a repeat winner of Progressive Grocer’s Impact Awards in 2021 and 2023 for our work in Community Service and Local Impact. Recognized as part of an elite group of companies making a difference in nine environmental, social and governance areas, we are honored to be recognized for our strong ties and work in the Baltimore community. With a mission to help people Eat, Live and Feel Better, this award highlights how our efforts go beyond category leading work in the olive oil aisle, and into the communities and people who make our Baltimore-based business possible.

OUR WORK WITH TASTE WISE KIDS

At Pompeian, we know that healthy habits start young, which is why we prioritize education and hands-on programming with children in the Baltimore community. Recently, we became a sponsor for Taste Wise Kids (TWK), a Baltimore-based organization that offers children fun ways to learn about food and inspire a lifetime of positive, healthy eating habits. Through this partnership, we are honored to help educate more than 1,000 students about healthy food every year!

JOINING FORCES WITH BALTIMORE WATERFRONT PARTNERSHIP

Baltimore’s Inner Harbor is the gateway for Pompeian’s high-quality products, so it’s important to us to protect and preserve it. Through work with Baltimore non-profit, Healthy Harbor, Pompeian has adopted two trash interceptors (known locally as Mr. Trash Wheel and Professor Trash Wheel) which remove more than 250 tons of waste from the local harbor annually. But because we know that preserving Baltimore goes beyond cleaning the waterfront, Pompeian has also started the Eastside Community Beautification Grant Program in partnership with Healthy Harbor. Committing $25,000 in funding to small grants supporting greening and beautification projects in ten neighborhoods surrounding Pompeian's Baltimore headquarters, the program has helped facilitate the plantings of community gardens, neighborhood cleanups, murals, artwork installations and more.

WORKING TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE MARYLAND

In 2024, Pompeian became an active member of the Maryland Green Registry, furthering our dedication to sustainable practices in the community. The Maryland Green Registry promotes and recognizes sustainable practices, helping businesses and other organizations set and meet their own goals on the path to sustainability. Our mission is to identify, prevent and control the environmental impacts of Pompeian's activities and have set the following goals:

  • Divert 68% of waste from landfill, incineration and the environment by 2025
  • Achieve Zero Waste Certification in Operation by 2025
  • Standardize date labels across 100% of our products – Completed
