Reduced
Emissions & Waste

Our efforts to reduce our emissions and carbon footprint start at our olive groves.

In addition to helping you Eat and Live Well, we’re committed to using the power of the olive tree to help offset some of the biggest environmental challenges that impact our planet.

The Power of Olive Trees

You know olive oil is healthy, but did you know olive trees are good for the environment, too? Research suggests that olive trees can be a powerful tool in the fight against climate change, nurturing the environment in three important ways*:

Purifying The Air We Breathe Every Day

According to new research, sustainably farmed olive groves can potentially absorb the carbon footprint of one person every year, helping to further filter and purify our air. In fact, olive groves around the world extract as much CO2 from the atmosphere as over nine million people produce.*

As more research and new technologies become available, Pompeian will continue finding effective strategies to maximize our olive trees’ positive impact on the environment, all while maintaining our promise to deliver the highest-quality, best-tasting oils to your family’s table.

Our Commitment

Reduced Waste

Taking care of our planet starts with reducing the amount of waste we produce. While we’re thinking big, we’re starting locally in our goal to become a zero-waste-to-landfill operation in the years ahead.

Creating Compost

To help create compost and other gardening materials for use in our community, Pompeian is proud to partner with Veteran Compost, a local Baltimore company that employs veterans and their family members and specializes in turning food scraps into high-quality compost on a weekly basis.

Advancing Toward Zero Waste

Pompeian achieved Zero Waste Program Certification from SCS Global Services for the period July 2023 to June 2024 for our manufacturing facility in Baltimore, with 89.5% waste diversion.

Our Goal

To achieve Zero Waste Certification with 99% waste diversion by 2026.
