Meet JUANA

AS SHE TELLS IT, FARMING HAS COMPLETELY FASCINATED JUANA EVER SINCE SHE WAS A YOUNG GIRL. "I was born, raised and live for and by the olive trees.” Everyone in her family is a farmer, but her daughter is her favorite work companion by far. "Over the years, she's taken on more responsibility," Juana says. "She maintains the olive trees and keeps them healthy. I love that more and more young women are becoming farmers."

JUANA IS QUITE FOND OF RAINY DAYS, BECAUSE THE RAIN MAKES "OLIVE TREES BEAR MORE FRUIT.” To this day, she still gets excited when it's time to plant new saplings. She knows they'll eventually grow big and strong like her favorite tree, located in the grove known as Cuchillon. She says,

"I ADORE THAT TREE
BECAUSE IT BEARS SO
MANY OLIVES."

Of her many responsibilities, Juana takes the most pride in harvesting olives: “That's when I really get to see the fruits of my labor.” On her way home, Juana will take a long walk through the fields. Later, she prepares dinner at home: “Usually a salad with oranges and EVOO.” Sounds delicious, doesn't it?
